Venus Retrograde: Re-evaluating “Yours, Mine and Ours”

Venus Retrograde cycles are a big deal to me, since I’m ruled by Venus. Indeed if you’re a Taurus or Libra Sun or have these signs rising, then any Venus Retrograde cycle will feel more critical.
But don’t get me wrong — all of us will feel the energy of Venus Retrograde from October 8 through November 18. Venus will turn retrograde in Scorpio on October 8, and on November 7 it will backtrack into Libra. Obviously this is extreme relationship makeover for many of us, but you might not realize what else this cycle could dredge up.
In Scorpio, it just might cause you to take pause on a vital mater of shared resources. These could be financial, sexual or psychological resources. Most likely, it’ll be a blending of all three.
Let’s say you’re in a marriage and feel as if you’re pulling more of the weight in the relationship. You’re working full time and caring for the kids. You’re the one doing all of the cooking and cleaning. And then, after all of this exhaustion your spouse wants to play … in the bedroom. Perhaps you’ve been subconsciously “not in the mood” because you’re so angry and resentful about carrying more than is fair. Well if so, during the retrograde period you’ll have an opportunity to revise your relationship power struggle. You might be using sex as a weapon or punishment and not even be aware of it. Or, you might know exactly what you’ve been doing all along.
The point is with Venus Retrograde in Scorpio, all of these power games with money, sex and resources are going to be called to our full attention. Wherever they are in our lives we will need to deal with them.
It could be a business relationship as well. Perhaps you’re engaged in a power struggle over resources and talents. Over who’s “calling the shots.” It’ll come out and need to be addressed during this cycle.
Another possible scenario: perhaps you’re involved in a nasty divorce and there’s trouble agreeing on a settlement. This cycle can bring an important turn in the matter — and like it or not, there may be some revisions made.
Venus in Scorpio can be dark and deep. She’s sexy, magnetic and intense. But now that she’s about to turn retrograde, she’ll do her seductive dance in the dark. She’ll try to plot and plan and figure out how to retain control of the situation until she finally runs out of steam and realizes that the complete control she wants is now going to elude her. By the time Venus retrogrades into Libra, she’ll realize that it’s time to compromise.
What’s yours is yours. What’s mine is mine. But when it comes to relationship — whether it’s the start of one or the difficult ending — this retrograde cycle will bring home the point loud and clear: what’s ours is ours.
